July marked a huge milestone for the SNYE Youth Councils, with our Towcester and Brackley teams presenting major lighting proposals to their respective town councils – and securing decisive backing for both.
While each group is at a slightly different stage of their campaign, Youth Chairs Imy and Leon delivered stand-out presentations that won over a roomful of councillors.
Towcester: Moving to Action
- The Goal: Securing lighting upgrades at the Recreation Ground on Islington Road.
- The Pitch: Imy presented key findings from our recent community survey, highlighting clear local demand for better illuminated spaces.
- The Result: Towcester Town Council voted to back the campaign and agreed to form a joint action group with our youth councillors to review practical next steps together.
Brackley: Driving Survey Engagement
- The Goal: Expanding outreach for the upcoming lighting survey.
- The Pitch: Leon requested official council support to help promote the survey town-wide, ensuring as many young residents as possible can share their views.
- The Result: Brackley Town Council voted unanimously in favour of supporting the survey push.
Celebrating Our Youth Councillors
These results reflect months of hard work from every single youth councillor.
Standing up to address a full chamber of elected officials and members of the public takes serious grit. Imy and Leon spoke with incredible confidence, clarity, and poise, representing their peers brilliantly. Everyone at SNYE is immensely proud of what they achieved.
A massive thank you goes to both Towcester Town Council and Brackley Town Council for giving young people a platform, taking their concerns seriously, and pledging to support safer, better-lit communities.
